Options controlling Conway RLE output.
The default (trim_dead_border == false) writes a full-frame snapshot whose declared dimensions match the lattice exactly, which makes lattice -> RLE -> lattice round-trips exact. Set trim_dead_border to true for compact, pattern-library-style RLE.
